The Water Meter Size Reassessment (WMSR) process was introduced by Council in October 2015. Property owners can apply to have their water meter replaced with a smaller or larger water meter based on the current water requirements for the property.
The reassessment process only applies to water meters that are 32mm or larger in size.
Completing this application will enable Council to advise you whether or not your property is likely to qualify for a different size of the water meter. Council will provide advice within 20 working days following the completion and submission of this form.
If you decide to proceed with a formal application Council will charge a fee of $150 for a full water meter size reassessment (WMSR).
Depending on the assessment results Council may require further information regarding your property. If required, this will be discussed with you when you make an application.
Property where a change in meter size is more likely include:
properties zoned industrial within the city: where the character of the activity operating from the property has changed.
properties with a current water meter size of 32mm or larger.
properties with a service from the main to the meter of 32mm or less.
properties with a consistently low quarterly water consumption level: low water consumption is considered to be 44 kilolitres or less per quarter.
properties where the change in water meter size has no adverse impact on Council's water system or neighbouring properties.
properties where firefighting requirements can be satisfied with a smaller water service.
